Arthur Atkinson
Born in Barbados in 1945, Atkinson has lived the greater part of his life there except for three years in Grenada. He returned to Barbados from Grenada in the late sixties when he started to exhibit. This artist is known both for his abstract as well as representational work. His paintings are collected widely with a number of pieces in the Barbados National Collection and the Art Collection Foundation of Barbados.
Atkinson is an Art Director with an advertising agency; GHA Inc. and has worked with The Barbados Dance Theatre Company and other performing companies as Set Designer. He is a keen horticulturist with a collection of Tropical Bonsai.
His wife Hetty is a past Artistic Director of The Barbados Dance Theatre Company and they have two sons.
